Staff

We are dedicated to helping everyone in the Northwest and beyond discover, experience, and care for the natural and cultural heritage celebrated in our public lands. With extensive knowledge of public lands across the Northwest and a deep commitment to greater public involvement, we are all working to make Northwest Interpretive Association a hub for connecting people to the places that refresh our bodies, enliven our dreams, and bring us together as Northwesterners.

Jim Adams
, Executive Director
Jim is a leader and social entrepreneur who combines his love for public lands with more than 30 years of retail experience. Drawing on an extensive background that ranges from managing record stores in Detroit, to opening one of Boston's first bookstore cafes, Jim's first social enterprise was with the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, where he managed their $50M retail division. Jim joined NWIA as our Operations Director, managing more than 100 sales outlets in 5 states, and became our Executive Director in 2002. Under his leadership, Jim has dramatically increased operational effectiveness, led the creation of our profitable online store and has inspired the organization to look beyond traditional retail to other revenue sources to support visitor programs. Jim has been with NWIA since 1999.

Suzanne Greninger, Administrative Assistant
Suzanne began her NWIA career as a volunteer, but became an official staff member less than a year later. She graduated from the University of Washington in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. Suzanne provides administrative support for the Seattle office carrying out a variety of tasks that include overseeing NWIA online store operations and contributing to our Flickr page and contests. Some of her interests are the arts, the natural world, and spending time outdoors. Suzanne has been with NWIA since 2002.

Jamie Hickson, Accounting Assistant
Jamie is new to the Northwest and was immediately awed by the parks and recreation opportunities in the area. She has a B.B.A in Finance from Georgia State University and assists our accounting department with processing sales reports and bank reconciliations. Jamie joined NWIA in 2006.

Amanda Hoelzle, Merchandise Manager
Amanda currently manages the retail merchandise operations for all NWIA sites, working on a strategic site-by-site plan to make the retail appropriate for each individual site mission. Her background includes both large and small scale retail merchandise management. Amanda joined NWIA with a passion for nature, conservation and education. When not at work, Amanda follows her passion for nature by volunteering her time to local restoration efforts. It is her task to properly merchandise individual sites to ensure more funding will return to each public land site in order to increase volunteerism, education, and restoration which benefit the great outdoors. Amanda holds a BA in Liberal Arts from Seattle University where she focused heavily on Environmental Science; she has been with NWIA since 2008.

David Lindau, Associate Director
